Use the Open Sikhiya mobile app
The Open Sikhiya app brings your courses and live classes together on Android and iOS. Sign in with the same account you use on the Open Sikhiya website.
Find your way around
Section titled “Find your way around”The five main areas are always available from the app navigation:
- Home shows your recent course, live classes that are happening now, upcoming classes and courses you may want to explore.
- Discover lets you browse and search the course catalogue.
- My Learning contains the courses you have joined.
- Schedule brings course dates, assignments and live classes into one agenda or calendar view.
- Profile contains your personal details, certificates, downloads, video preferences, calendar settings and support options.
On a tablet, the same navigation may appear along the side so there is more room for course content.
Learn in a course
Section titled “Learn in a course”Open a course from Home, Discover or My Learning. Each course keeps the important parts in one place:
- Home for the course summary and the next activity
- Content for lessons, videos and other learning units
- Progress for completion and grades
- Schedule and Assignments for dated work
- Discussions for course conversations
- More for announcements and handouts
The app remembers where you stopped, so Continue learning returns you to the latest available unit. Your progress is synchronized with Open Sikhiya when you are online.
Learn with a limited connection
Section titled “Learn with a limited connection”Course videos that allow downloads can be saved to your device. Open Profile → Downloads to see or remove saved videos and check how much space they use. Choose your streaming and download quality under Profile → Video settings.
Downloaded videos remain available when your connection drops. Other course activities may still need an internet connection, and progress made while offline is synchronized after the app reconnects.
Follow your schedule
Section titled “Follow your schedule”Open Schedule to switch between an upcoming list and calendar views. It includes course dates and live classes, so you do not need to check separate places. Finished events and missed classes remain available under Finished.
You can also connect your Open Sikhiya dates to a calendar on your device from Profile → Dates and calendar. The app asks for calendar permission the first time it needs it.
Join a live class
Section titled “Join a live class”Live classes appear on Home and Schedule. Select one to see its time, host, related course and current status. When joining opens, select Join now. The Zoom room opens inside the app, so you do not need to copy a meeting link or enter a meeting ID.
For a recurring class, the app shows the complete series and highlights the next session. After a class, return to its details to watch a recording when the instructor has made one available.
See Find and join a live class and Watch a recording for more detail.
Notifications and links
Section titled “Notifications and links”Allow notifications when prompted if you want updates on this device. Tapping a supported notification opens the related course, discussion or live class. Links to Open Sikhiya content can also open directly in the app when your device offers that choice.
Notification availability depends on your device settings and on the channels enabled by the platform team. You can manage live-class choices using Get class reminders.
Your profile and certificates
Section titled “Your profile and certificates”Use Profile to update your profile photo and personal details, open your certificates, contact support or sign out. Some account information is managed by Open Sikhiya and may not be editable in the app.
